What are we learning?

Ever tried whittling a spoon and ended up with a splintered mystery object? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. Join our Wood Carving Basics class and learn how to safely and skillfully carve wood using traditional Mora carving knives. No machines, just your hands, a block of wood, and the right techniques to get started with confidence. Materials and tools are provided.

Choose between using our knives OR take home your very own.

Course Objectives:

  • Discover the basics of wood carving using traditional Moraknivs.
  • Learn foundational carving skills through hands-on practice with a basswood blank.
  • Understand how to sharpen and maintain your tools for clean, safe cuts.
  • Choose between using studio tools or upgrading to your own Morakniv 106 to take home.
  • Get access to reoccurring wood carving classes, including beginner spoon carving.

What You Will Learn:

  • Safe Knife Grip & Control – Reduce fatigue and improve precision with proper technique.
  • Fundamental Carving Cuts – Learn the 3 key knife cuts used in spoon and whittling projects.
