What's on the workbench?

Ever wanted to step deeper into bushcraft? This intermediate workshop takes you beyond spoons into the world of carving bowls. Over ~3 hours, you’ll learn to shape and hollow a bowl from green wood or kiln-dried wood. It’s physically tasking, deeply rewarding, and a true bushcraft experience.

You’ll create a functional piece like a catch tray bowl or use it as a small ice cream bowl, carved entirely by hand.

What You’ll Do

  • Learn to safely carve bowls with knives, gouges, and traditional tools
  • Explore working with both green wood and kiln-dried wood
  • Shape, hollow, and refine the interior of a bowl
  • Build on your knife handling, control, and technique from previous classes
  • Finish with a hand-carved bowl you can continue refining at home or at Carving Club

Tools & Materials

  • All tools and materials provided.
  • Use green wood or softer kiln-dried wood.
  • Bring your finished or in-progress bowl later to Carving Club Circle to continue refining and get feedback.

Duration

3–4 hours
