Whats on the workbench?

Learn the fine art of handcut dovetails! In this full-day workshop, you will hand cut classic fine furniture joint, the dovetail. You will learn how to lay out, saw, chisel, and fit tight joints with clean shoulders and crisp baselines. By the end, you will complete at least one dovetailed corner. If you are interested in pursuing hand tool woodworking this is an essential skill to develop.

What You Will Learn:

  • Tails-first approach to cutting dovetails
  • Choosing and preparing stock
  • Accurate layout with knife lines, gauges, and bevels
  • Saw control with a Japanese dovetail saw
  • Chisel techniques for paring to a baseline and fitting for a gap-free joint

Who Should Attend:

Beginner and intermediate woodworkers who want reliable, repeatable hand-tool joinery without jigs. No prior dovetail experience is required. Comfort using a handsaw and chisels is recommended.
